About Jason
Jason specialises in relationship breakdown and applies his expertise mainly to unmarried couples who separate. With more than 20 years’ experience as a Solicitor, he is an expert in advising unmarried clients in relation to property disputes and is regularly instructed to advise clients seeking to defend or pursue property dispute claims under the Trust of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996. Jason navigates complex concepts such as express and implied trusts, declarations of trusts, promissory estoppel and while he will robustly pursue or defend a claim in contentious proceedings, he is also an advocate of sensible and structured round table discussions or will support mediation or arbitration as alternative methods for resolving disputes in a cost effect manner.
In addition to managing a separation for an unmarried individual, Jason also sensitively advises clients who seek to cohabitate and will often draft simple or comprehensive cohabitation agreements to protect wealth and regulate financial agreements that a couple consider prior to cohabiting and will support them on that legal journey.
Jason prepares or reviews pre- and post-nuptial agreements as he has decades of experience advising both unmarried and married couples and is a specialist in the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 that regulates financial resolution. He has advised high net worth clients, a premier league footballer, successful business owners and public figures. He is uniquely placed to offer relevant advice for those engaged couples transitioning from unmarried, to married status.
Jason specialises in an all manner of contentious children disputes be they married or unmarried, and also supports individuals who require (or to defend) personal protection applications that include harassment, threatening and coercive and controlling behaviour and abuse under the Family Law Act 1996.
